Malaysiakini: Anwar leaves Turkish Embassy

“Malaysiakini" reported that Anwar leaves Rurkish Embassy. PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim, after seeking refuge in Turkish Embassy for 36 hours, came out at 6.45p.m.

Anwar's aide Saiful reported against the former for sodomising him several times, the last time being on Thursday. Why did Saiful only report to police as late as Saturday? Being a young man of 23,did he really being over-powered by Anwar, a 60-year-old man? These were doubtful pointers.

The police forensic team was truly effective, its action was swift, and they swept the condominium "where the incidents occurred" for 5 hours. People were doubtful that after blogger Raja Petra signed the statutory declaration about Altantuya's murder case, why wasn't the team similarly swift and visit DPM Najib's home and probe on Rosmah his wife? They waited till the DAP chairman Karpal Singh reported against her, then only they took down her statements.

Anwar said he decided to come out after three ministers promised his safety. They were Najib, Syed Hamid and Rais Yatim. Among them Najib's promise was the weakest.

Anwar believed that as he intended to make a by-election and also four BN MPs will jump ship to PR, therefore BN had plotted against him. He also claimed that his life was threatened.

Many people supported Anwar because the corruption and abuse of power by BN had made me lose faith in them. We believed that God wanted to use Anwar in returning justice and righteousness back to the people. Therefor any politicians wanting to use dirty tricks to trap Anwar will themselves suffered boomerang. One of the Proverbs says, "Whoever digs a pit will fall into it, and a stone will come back on him who starts it rolling."

Should not postpone mega projects in Penang

PM Abdullah tabled a motion in Parliament to reveal the Ninth Malaysian plan. But it had excluded the two mega projects which originally were in the blue print, i.e. the Monorail and Outer Ring Road. DPM Najib had confirmed that they were being postponed instead of being shelved.

CM Lim Guan Eng was agitating, and he bombarded PM for suffering from a revengful syndrome. He criticized PM for being irrational, irresponsible and no-gentleman, at the same time describing PM as a fickle-minded person. In fact, not only the Penangites were disappointed, the general public at large were worried that our policies were flippantly changing, and it will affect the faith both of the locals and foreigners in the leadership.

The PM presented such a grand plan before the Gen. Election which resulted in people's great anticipation about national economies. Now with such a vast change, how could you ever stop the people from believing those were not election goodies?

The news came as a shock for the Penangites. Since Penang had switched power from BN to PR, naturally people will suspect whether this was a political revenge? Two months ago I visited Penang, the roads were jam-packed, and they had almost reached the state of saturation. But looking at the two rows of houses and shop-lots which sandwitched the roads that were no way for widening anymore, I was worried.

Upgrading the public transport system is a job that should not be delayed any longer, otherwise we are afraid that it would be unmoved in Penang soon. If we were to commence work now, in 3 to 5 years' time, when the traffic is convenient, added with the completion of the second link-bridge, Penang will be a New Penang then. I believed that Penang could have a good traffic system, as I compared it with Singapore. These both are small islands, so the Penangites are actually able to travel about conveniently without having to drive.

I agreed with Guan Eng that the PM should not go ahead postponing the projects without first consulting him. The PM should at least respect the heads of all states, even though those which are ruled by PR. I hope that PM will submit to the wishes of people, and review his decisions by resuming the two projects in Penang, in order to prevent prolonged postponement which will result in burdens borne by both the treasury and the subjects.

Police should do fresh investigation on Altantuya's case

STATUTORY DECLARATION

I, RAJA PETRA BIN RAJA KAMARUDIN (IC No: 500927-71-5257), a Malaysian citizen of legal age residing at No. 5, Jalan BRP 5/5, BuKit Rahman Putra, 47000 Sungai Buloh, Selangor Darul Ehsan, do solemnly and sincerely affirm and say as follows:-

1. I have been reliably informed that between about 10 p.m. on 19th October 2006 and early hours of the following day, the night Altantuya Shaariibuu was murdered, three (3) other people were also present at the scene of the crime;

(a) Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, wife of the Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia, Dato’ Seri Najib Tun Razak

(b) Acting Colonel Aziz Buyong (then Lt. Col.) a C4 expert

(c) Acting Colonel Aziz’s wife, Norhayati (one of Rosmah’s ADC)

2. My informer states that Acting Colonel Aziz Buyong was the person who placed the C4 on various parts of Altantuya’s body while being witnessed by Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor and Norhayati.

3. I make this Statutory Declaration because I have been reliably informed about the involvement of these three people who have thus far not been implicated in the murder nor called as witnesses by the prosecution in the on going trial at the Shah Alam High Court. I also make this Statutory Declaration because I am aware that it is a crime not to reveal evidence that may help the police in its investigation of the crime.

4. I have further been reliably informed that Prime Minister, Dato Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi has received a written report from the Military Intelligence confirming what I have revealed above and that the report was subsequently handed over to his son-in-law, Khairy Jamaluddin, for safe-keeping.

5. I have also been reliably informed that one of the Rulers has been briefed about this matter and His Highness is fully aware of what I have revealed above.

6. I have knowledge of who has informed me of this matter plus I have knowledge of the Ruler who has been briefed and is aware of the matter but I have agreed that I shall not reveal this information other than mention that the Prime Minister and his son-in-law have been handed a written report confirming what I have revealed.

7. The purpose of this Statutory Declaration is to urge all these parties who have been duly informed and have knowledge of this matter to come forward to reveal the truth so that the police are able to conduct a proper and thorough investigation into the murder of Altantuya Shaariibuu.

And I make this solemn declaration conscientiously believing the same to be true and by virtue of the provisions of the Statutory Declaration Act, 1960.

SUBSCRIBED and SOLEMNLY DECLARED )
by the abovenamed RAJA PETRA BIN RAJA KAMARUDIN )
at Makhamah Tinggi Kuala Lumpur )
this 18th day of June 2008 )

The above image is the declaration of Raja Petra Kamarudin which he posted on his blog at:
http://www.malaysia-today.net/2008/content/view/9050/84/

24th June DAP Lim Kit Siang moved a motion to debate on Raja Petra's declaration but was rejected by the Parliamentarian.

Later PM Pak Lah said that he could remember receiving such report.

25th June, DPM Najib dismissed claims in declaration by Raja Petra. He refuted that the claims by Raja Petra were lies, fabrication and garbage. He confirmed that cops had recorded statement from Rosmah his wife.

The police should not show double standards when come to VIPs. It was a murder case and as such police should treat all suspects seriously. The police should interogate Rosmah instead of recording her statement. No, please don't show kindness to VIPs by belanja teh-tarik (treat with tea) and chit-chatThe police should use lie-detectors on her as well. The machine will show who was lying, whether Raja Petra or Najib.

All Malaysians know that our police is a mechanism of the authorities instead of the public at large. When would they achieve the quality of FBI?

Well since Najib claimed that those were lies of Raja Petra, he should sue the latter immediately.

Judge Ian Chin reveals more dark truth

We need to bring back justice to our judiciary.
The following news was taken from The Star:
http://www.thestar.com.my/news/story.asp

KUCHING: High Court judge Datuk Ian Chin has reiterated that former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad made veiled threats against judges.

In a statement issued in Sibu yesterday, Justice Chin said the former premier did not say he would remove judges through a tribunal in those exact words but conveyed the threat by “dropping words to that effect here and there”.

He said it was obvious that Dr Mahathir went to a judges’ conference in 1997 because he was unhappy with a number of decisions.

“He came to the judges’ conference not to listen to the judges or engage in discussion with them but to tell the judges what he wanted and how unhappy he was,” he said.

Justice Chin also denied that he made these claims because he thought Dr Mahathir had blocked his promotion.

He said he had not wanted promotion to the Court of Appeal but chose to return to Kota Kinabalu in 2002 to serve in the High Court there.

“Since I do not want promotion before, now or in the future nor any appointment after my retirement, what do I get out of all this?

“It is this: I must be able to sleep well after I retire,” he added.

Earlier this month, Justice Chin caused a stir when he claimed that Dr Mahathir had made a thinly veiled threat that judges could be sacked if they did not deliver judgments to the former prime minister’s liking.

Justice Chin also said he and several other judges were sent to a boot camp “to indoctrinate them with the view that the Government’s interest was more important than all else”.

The claims were subsequently denied by Dr Mahathir.

Petronas operated by proxies?

I read the letter by PKR vice-president Dr. Jeffrey Kitingan to "Malaysiakini" in anger. His letter entitled "Who are the six 'option holders' of Petronas?" (http://www.malaysiakini.com/letters/84969) revealed why Petronas could not net in huge profits despite world crude oil price soared over US$140.00 pr barrel.

I hope that Pakatan Rakyat would dig into the secrecy, and expose the six culprits. It is not surprising to see that this is another BN cronies at work. BN leaders may be hauling in huge profits through proxies.

God has bless Malaysia with abundant oil supplies. As such, every citizen is eligible to use the oil deduct the expenses. Therefore, in the first place there shouldn't be such thing as "subsidies". We should get access to the use with low price. So after supplying to all within the country, the surplus to be exported, and the profit to build infrastructures like roads, bridges, high-tech transportation, etc, less toll charges. And not forgetting to do what Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng has suggested that RM6000.00 per year in cash be given to each family.

If Petronas cannot do such thing, let her administration be handled by Parliament with a committee comprising both MPs from BN and PR.

Fuel-hike motion passed in Parliament

Yesterday Domestic Trade and Home Affairs Minister Shahrir tabled a motion in support of PM's fuel-hike. Petrol and diesel price were already raised on 4th June for RM0.78 and RM1.00 respectively. It was passed with 129 to 78 votes. Why did PM Abdullah raised the price before he pass the motion?

11 MPs from BN (including 2 from SAPP) and 4 MPs from the oppositions were absent. There was no motion moved against the PM for no-confidence neither from SAPP nor from Pakatan Rakyat. The 2 MPs of SAPP were recalled home by Yong Teck Lee after they had been threatened by certain quarters. Who could do that? It is not hard to guess. I am disappointed with such kind of hooliganism in Malaysian politics.

Well PM is not that proud after all as he had pre-warned his MPs to toe-the-line.

ACA investigates Yong Teck Lee

The Anti Corruption Agency opens the 12-year-old file against Yong Teck Lee, stating that the latter had asked the state business earning of RM5 million to be channelled into his appointed company.

Yong had given his answer to the ACA 12 years ago, and why take the action now? It shows that our judiciary and ACA were/are never independent, they were/are all under the power of the PM. Such a state will only become the political weapons of the authorities against their political foes, functioning for the benefits of the authorities. Now you know why there are so many corrupted ministers and officers unfazed.

SAPP's smart tactics

Today SAPP of Sabah supreme council held an emergency meeting and made two important decisions. First, SAPP has not decided to pull out from BN. Secondly, according to the media reception by Yong Teck Lee the president on 18th June in tabling or supporting a motion of no-confidence in the PM, the party will stick to this decision when Parliament resumes on 23rd June. Whether SAPP or Pakatan Rakyat will table a motion, let us wait and see.

This will be a good show in Parliament, because if SAPP were to move the motion, or PR to move it and supported by SAPP, they are both making history.

PM was very nervous, we could see it through the way he cautioned all BN MPs to be present all sessions and whole day-long, and not to support the motion.

http://www.theborneopost.com/?p=36672

Northern lights and fire rainbow over Yellow Knife Canada

THIS IS A FIRE RAINBOW - THE RAREST OF ALL NATURALLY OCCURRING ATMOSPHERIC PHENOMENA.

THE PICTURE WAS CAPTURED LAST WEEK ON THE IDAHO / WASHINGTON BORDER. THE EVENT LASTED ABOUT 1 HOUR.

CLOUDS HAVE TO BE CIRRUS, AT LEAST 20K FEET IN THE AIR, WITH JUST THE RIGHT AMOUNT OF ICE CRYSTALS AND THE SUN HAS TO HIT THE CLOUDS AT PRECISELY 58 DEGREES.

Oil money and the welfare of Malaysians

On the evening of 4th June, SMSes were flying everywhere. Prime Minister Abdullah Badawi made an announcement at 5.00 p.m. about petrol hike. With effect from 12.01 a.m. the next day petrol price will be increased by RM0.78 per litre. Subsequently Ron 92 will go up 41.5% from RM1.88 to RM2.66; Ron 97 will go up 40.63% from RM1.92 to RM2.70; and diesel will go up RM1.00 or 63.2% from RM1.58 to RM2.58.

The news caused a great traffic jam and chaos all over the country. In Kuala Lumpur and Petaling Jaya, heavy rain poured down at 5.00 p.m. The rain spoke of a doom about our political atmosphere. Half way through at press reception a journalist left the room and murmured “it is political suicide”. With the petrol hike people were speculating how far Abdullah’s position will go amidst dissatisfaction among the public at large. People were panic and they rushed every household car to the petrol kiosks. The jams at KL and PJ lasted till midnight. It was a painful night. If the PM had already determined to increase the price in the first place, why could not he announce it in the morning so that the last-minute rush was unnecessary? The actions of a leader will reveal how tactful the person is.

And all the while, whenever there was an increase in petrol price, the announcement was made late in the evening as if the government wanted to catch us unprepared! I hope the people in authority do not mock the people for being “kiasu” (afraid to lose) by queuing up in order to top up their tanks, for most of them are just ordinary people who made a living from hands to mouths. If they could save a couple of ringgits it will be helpful to them.

Malaysia is an oil producing country, why could not we provide cheap fuel for the people like other oil producing countries. The president of Pakatan Rakyat (PR) from the Opposition coalition, Dr. Wan Azizah refuted the Barisan Nasional (BN) for comparing us with Singapore and Thailand. She said that we should compare with oil producing countries like UAE (RM1.19/L), Egypt (RM1.03/L), Kuwait (RM0.67/L), Saudi Arabia (RM0.38), Nigeria (RM0.32), and Venezuela (RM0.16).

Though Malaysia will become a major importer of oil by 2014, it does not mean that we are running out of oil. We are just to consume more oil by then. In fact we still have many years of supply. Our oil is of a good quality and we export it to fetch for a better price. By 2014 our import will surpass our export. But Petronas being our national oil company will still harvest billions of dollars each year.

When the government is unable to provide us with cheap petrol, they should review how the treasury was spent. Whenever world crude oil price soars by a dollar, Petronas will net in millions of dollars. And the citizens regret that Petronas is not transparent in its operations. Please do not forget that Petronas owns many joint-venture companies overseas. And what has happened to those incomes? Where did the relevant parties spend the money? It is not transparent at all!

Today we could not enjoy cheap fuel, and we could say that the ex-PM Dr. Mahathir Mohamad cannot avoid blame as well. Look especially at the two states in East Malaysia, Sarawak and Sabah, today people over there began to react aggressively. All the while, oil money given by the two states to the federal government, they each could only get a return of 5% from their royalty. Anwar Ibrahim, the de facto leader of PR, made an electoral pledge that if the Oppositions were to take over power, the government will reduce the oil price. After the General Election, Anwar has invited Members of Parliament from East Malaysia to switch nests by pledging each state with a 20% in oil royalty. Even at this moment amidst of petrol hike Anwar reaffirmed his pledge to reduce oil price should PR has the chance to rule.

How come Anwar could do it and Abdullah could not? Because Anwar has been a Minister of Finance for 6 years! He knew how the treasury was being run. It was not giving cheap fuel that would bankrupt the government but rather corruption was. In Mahathir’s tenure, on one hand he gave 5% oil royalty back to Sarawak and Sabah. And on the other hand he spent tons of money building monuments – KL Tower, Twin Towers, F1 Circuit, Putrajaya and other mega projects. Money was also used to bail out unproductive companies and given to cronies. Malaysia has become an empty shell with only outward glories. That was why Malaysia was greatly hit by the Asian Financial Crisis in 1997. No, Mahathir was not the savior of Malaysia when he froze the trading of Malaysian currency overseas. He was to be answerable for the weak financial status he had created. He had caused the country’s billions of dollars being vaporized overnight. It takes 10 years for Malaysia to recover.

People have many reasons to express disappointment in the BN government under Abdullah. He knew that corruption was prevalent among his people but he has no gut to axe them. Do we need to send a so-called “astronaut” into space? It cost RM100 million to do so. If we calculate the price of low-cost apartments based on RM35, 000.00 per unit, the money burnt up by the Russian rocket could actually provide free housing for 3,000 families. And when Najib Razak, the Deputy PM cum Minister of Defense, made purchases of submarines, war-crafts and fighter jets, why must he make deals through a company which had no relevance to weapon industry? Were they not evidences of cronyism? It is sad to see that the tax-payers’ money were being squandered like that and ended up into somebody’s pockets.

Recently, out of the five states under the rule of PR, three states namely Penang, Perak and Selangor, the new governments had discovered lots of land scandals and cases of frauds in business transactions by the former BN governments. Especially in Selangor, out of the 62 projects undertaken by the state government, the rate of failure had exceeded 90%! The state government has lost billions of money as a result. No wonder why the government has not enough money for various funding and opted to petrol hike. Many people in positions were eating up the treasuries. Do not forget we still have eight more states under the BN rule. The Oppositions could not get to audit their accounts. But people have many reasons to believe that they are no better than the three states mentioned above.

With the money generated by Petronas alone each year, that is, a minimum of RM80 billion per year (not counting oversea investments), we have in fact enough money to feed the people comfortably, provided that our leaders must rule with clean hands. By the way, Malaysia could have been richer than Singapore today. We did not make it because our leaders were building “Towers of Babel” which had provoked the wrath of God.

Our oil money must be put to better use to benefit all citizens. God has a very special plan for Malaysia. He is doing a great transforming in this land. Soon there will be several new waves to hit our shores. And God will raise up Malaysia an exemplary nation bearing His seals of Justice, Righteousness and holiness.

Study trips to Germany and Canada under fire

As a responsible citizen, I am very angry to read of this news. Yesterday at 5p.m. PM Abdullah announced that petrol price to be increased from today for RM0.78 per litre. So we pay RM2.70 for RON 97.

Our country is an abundant petroluem country, but because of corruptions by the top guns, the govt complained of no money to run the country. Just look at the news below and see how the civil servants squandered our hard-earned money.

The news was published in Star Metro on 4th June. Please visit the following link:
http://thestar.com.my/metro/story.asp?file=/2008/6/4/central/21443892&sec=central

A STUDY trip to a city in Europe and Canada organised by the Federal Territory Ministry, Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) and Putrajaya Corporation has not gone down well with Cheras MP Tan Kok Wai.

The one-week trip from May 30 until June 7 is to study better ways of managing a city.

It involves a delegation of 15 high-ranking officers, including FT Minister Datuk Seri Zulhasnan Rafique and KL mayor Datuk Abdul Hakim Borhan.

Tan said the trip was unnecessary and a waste of money.

“Why must they go to Europe to study how to manage cities?” queried Tan. “Why can't they go to Singapore, Hong Kong or Taipei to learn?

Meanwhile, when contacted the minister's principal private secretary Shazril Fariza said the study tour to the two cities, Vancouver in Canada and Berlin in Germany was approved by the cabinet.

“The ministry picked these two cities because both have an excellent local governance system and a perfect place to learn.

“The ministry feels you cannot run a city the old way and in order to become a world-class city one must incorporate new ideas and ways and that's what this study tour is all about,'' said Shazril.

He added the delegation would also study ways to manage trafficcongestion and address environmental issues more efficiently.

Petrol Price floating

PM Abdullah is becoming more irrelevant each day. He has no sense of economy.

He claimed that it is getting more difficult to subsidise petrol in the country as crude oil price increased. Malaysia is an oil producing company. As crude oil price increased, Petronas, the Malaysian oil company is netting in tonnes of money. I don't see that we can't use the profits to bless the people in return.

Petronas has lots of joined ventrures overseas. But it is very untransparent. Where the money has gone to? All got into the pockets of UMNOputras.

Now for those who had voted for BN during the 12th Gen Election, you must be regretting by now. Before the election, Anwar has promised to reduce petrol price should the Oppositions take over govt. Why did Anwar able to make such a promise? Because he knew how BN top guns handle Petronas money. Should Pakatan Rakyat rules, Anwar will take total control of Petronas. He will use the money to bless all Malaysian Rakyat.

If Anwar could promise to return 20% of oil royalties to Sabah and Sarawak each, why can't BN do that? The answer is simple, the govt squandered all the money in building monuments, with loads of commissions into the pockets.

How Christians in Malaysia voted on 308

Taken from: http://www.mysinchew.com/node/12050

The Christians of Malaysia make up about 8-12% of the population with large congregations in Sabah and Sarawak as well as the urban centre’s along the west coast of the peninsula. They have always played a big role in Malaysia’s history, and the contributions of luminaries such as Peter Mojuntin and Teresa Kok to our public life cannot be discounted

This community, however, has lately felt increasingly as if it is under siege. The creeping pace of Islamisation in Malaysia has made many Christians feel like strangers in their own land. The Lina Joy case, the demonstrations outside an Ipoh Catholic church, the ‘body-snatching’ issue and the banning over Malay-language Bibles are just of a few incidents that have contributed to their unease.

While the Churches have attempted to remain neutral, as per the Bible’s dictum to - 'render unto Caesar what is Caesar's and render unto the Lord what is His', the decline of tolerance in Malaysia has politicised many of their parishioners. In the run-up to the polls many church leaders; angered by the pressure (sometimes verging on intimidation) placed on the community responded by calling for their congregations to vote for 'tolerant, transparent and moderate leaders' which in turn became a coded reference to the opposition.

"The youth, in particular the young leaders are more willing to defend the rights of their faith."
It would not be out of place therefore to speculate that the Umno/BN strategists failed to understand the extent to which their neglect of this generally apolitical community had forced them into the arms of the opposition. Their sectarian saber-rattling has proven counter-productive, as the results show. It has become passé to talk about how voters in Sabah and Sarawak ‘saved’ the Barisan, and it is highly likely that the Christian community there played a role in this.

The Opposition, on the other hand fully exploited the concerns of the Peninsula churches to maximum benefit. One cannot help but lavishly praise the political and socio-religious astuteness of Shah Alam MP Khalid Abdul Samad’s decision to visit a Catholic church in his constituency, the construction of which was stonewalled for decades under the previous state government, at that. The warmth of the standing ovation by which he was greeted is a clear sign that many Christians in the Peninsula had gone over to the Opposition. Who knows what could have happened had the same sentiments caught on in East Malaysia?

Some extremists have certainly gone to great lengths to make Malaysian Christians feel unwelcome. A cleric I encountered during the campaign trail once told me: 'We Malaysian Christians are living through a period not unlike the Reconquista in Spain, when the Catholics returned to take control of a once Muslim Iberian peninsula.'

That he could see parallels between contemporary Malaysia and the period of medieval Spanish history which saw the rise of the Inquisition is certainly disturbing. Another leader, Reverend Herman Shastri, General Secretary to the Council of Churches Malaysia declared: "Points of tension between the different religions have been taking place with more frequency. Part of this is due to the fact that information is more easily disseminated now, but it is also indicative that Malaysians are changing. The youth, in particular the young leaders are more willing to defend the rights of their faith".

All of these ought to be red flags for the Umno/BN leaders to modify their policy, but has somehow eluded their notice. The former, in particular stubbornly holds on to the sectarian rhetoric that has alienated racial and religious minorities in the countries so. This could cost the party more than it already has. Christian unhappiness towards the BN didn't take root in East Malaysia, but the sustained attacks by narrow-minded religious authorities on the half-a-million strong Sidang Injil Bonero Malay language evangelical church could easily change the equation, providing the opposition with a strong potential support base.

Despite this, the results of 8 March have done much to restore Christian confidence in the direction of the country. That some Christians, as in the case of Shah Alam and elsewhere, could throw their support behind the Malay-Muslim politicians of PAS and the PKR, and that the latter avidly appeal to them, augurs well for a more tolerant Malaysia.

Fears however, that a ‘backlash’ against the national minorities is coming simmers in the surface. Certainly, the calls of certain quarters to ‘defend Islam and ketuanan Melayu’ despite the obvious dominance of both has made other Malaysians more and not less nervous.
Such talk ignores the fact that a good many Malaysian Christians voted against Umno/BN not to throw their political weight around but as a wake-up call to the coalition to buck up. Many hope that the Barisan Nasional will respond in a positive fashion, and return to the multi-racial principles upon which it was founded on.

Despite this, it cannot be denied that the endless infractions, the nasty bureaucratic delays over churches and constant carping has made many Christians feel less Malaysian and less at home. Whilst 8 March had demonstrated the power of their vote the sense of being a people set apart remained deeply embedded. (By KARIM RAZLAN/ MySinchew, 1 June 2008)
