Come clean on Altantuya, Deepak tells Najib

K Kabilan
 | January 18, 2013
Deepak is angry with Najib for labelling him as a person without credibility and for failing to address exposés about the PM's alleged links with Altantuya Shaariibuu.
PETALING JAYA: Carpet dealer Deepak Jaikishan today lashed out at Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak for continuously evading questions pertaining to his and his wife Rosmah Mansor’s alleged links with Mongolian national Altantuya Shaariibuu.
Deepak was especially peeved with the couple’s silence on his (Deepak’s) accusations that they had forced private investigator P Balasubramaniam to overturn his first statutory declaration (SD) with a second one (SD2) to clear any links between Najib and the dead Mongolian.
“May I suggest that you (Najib) as our ‘sitting PM’ to explain the truth on SD2 to the Malaysian public and not just sit on the PM’s chair like a ‘sitting duck’,” Deepak said today.
“What is most important is that both you and your wife come forward now to specifically reveal the truth to the entire Malaysian public on why she (Rosmah) instructed me (to get Balasubramaniam) to reverse the SD2,” he added.
Deepak was responding to Najib’s remarks yesterday who denied all accusations and labelled Deepak, once a very close associate of his wife, as “not a credible person”.
Najib, speaking on Deepak’s accusations for the first time since the matter broke out in November, told reporters after the Umno Supreme Council meeting late yesterday, that neither he nor his family members were involved in allegedly covering up the murder of Altantuya.
“It’s not true. He is not a credible person,” said Najib, who also added that the matter was not an issue and “won’t effect BN in elections”.
Awful answer from the PM
Deepak said Najib’s response was “an awful answer as a prime minister to give, that too after two months”.
“Were you also sleeping all this while?” he asked.
He said that it was Najib’s response which was not credible, adding that his exposés on the murder was the truth.
He added that Najib must also explain as to why Rosmah had asked him (Deepak) to get involved in getting Balasubramaniam to reverse his damaging SD.
“Najib must also explain as to why he instructed his brother Nazim and the influential Tan Sri lawyer to do the unlawful reversal of the SD in the first place?
“Wasn’t it because Balasubramaniam’s first SD which linked Najib to Altantuya was the truth?”
“I do hope that at least for  the sake of the credibility of the high office of Prime Minister, Najib will for once address this unlawful SD2 matter and speak the truth about his wife and their unlawful involvement in planning this SD2 immediately and not wait for another two months to pass,” said Deepak.
Deepak is also expected to hold a press conference soon to reveal documents confirming the role played by Nazim in the reversal of SD2.
Since November, Deepak had revealed the extent of his close relationship with the prime minister’s family which ranged from getting Balasubramaniam to overturn his statutory declaration to allegedly getting jewelleries for Rosmah, and gaining various contracts from the government, one of which involved a project for the Defence Ministry.
It was the Defence Ministry contract which eventually caused a rift in the close relationship, resulting in Deepak’s exposés so far.

Astacanggih buyout to silence Deepak, claims Rafizi

Rafizi said PKR will now attempt to derail Boustead’s acquisition of Astacanggih. — File pic
PETALING JAYA, Dec 29 ― Boustead Holdings Bhd’s acquisition of an 80 per cent stake in Astacanggih Sdn Bhd is an attempt to silence controversial carpet dealer Deepak Jaikishan, PKR’s Rafizi Ramli alleged today.
The PKR strategy director also accused Defence Minister Datuk Seri Zahid Hamidi of abusing his power by spending public money through government investment fund Lembaga Tabung Angkatan Tentera (LTAT), which owns Boustead, to acquire the loss-making property development company.
“This is worse than a bailout ... this is outright bribery to practically pay off and silence (Deepak),” Rafizi told a press conference here.
The politician added that if the recent allegations made by Deepak over the murder of Mongolian model Altantuya Shaariibuu had not been considered serious, it was unlikely that LTAT would have proceeded with the buyout.
Deepak recently also exposed an alleged deal between Awan Megah Sdn Bhd, the company owned by Selangor Wanita Umno chief  Senator Datuk Raja Ropiaah Abdullah, and the federal government for the a parcel of land involved in the acquisition by Boustead.
He said that Deepak’s allegation had likely “frightened” the Barisan Nasional (BN) government so much that it had instructed Zahid to proceed with the move.
Rafizi claimed that acquiring Astacanggih was not a sound investment, and Zahid was being irresponsible by jeopardising the contributions of armed forces members through Boustead and its subsidiary, Bakti Wira Development Sdn Bhd, which financed the deal.
“As the minister responsible for this deed, Zahid must be careful in making sure that the investment made by Bakti Wira will be in the best interest of members of the army,” Rafizi said.
He argued that Astacanggih is a company with poor track record and had failed to file any of its financial statements. It was also burdened with RM98 million of outstanding debt with banking institution Kuwait Finance House.
He also disputed the RM30 million valuation for the stake in Astacanggih,  explaining that the price was achieved through a “willing buyer, willing seller” agreement.
The same type of agreement was used in valuing the price of land going to acquired by Bakti Wira from Awan Megah, which Rafizi claimed was double the price of the land plots adjacent to it.
He referred to report by Utusan Malaysia in December 2005 that said another subsidiary of Boustead, Jendela Hikmat Sdn Bhd, had acquired a 236ha land for RM230 million, or RM390,000 per acre, compared to RM650,000 per acre for the land Bakti Wira is acquiring.
Rafizi further claimed that the government will be paying Awan Megah RM130 million for a piece of land that is yet to be transferred to the company.
“I echo Deepak’s claim ... that it is akin to the federal government paying RM130 million to Awan Megah for land that does not exist,” he added.
Rafizi also stressed that PKR will be concentrating on this issue in coming days, and will use any means possible to stop the deal from going through.
Yesterday, Deepak had said that he was forced to sell his company to cover the losses incurred in a deal with the Selangor Wanita Umno chief that went sour.
On Thursday, the controversial businessman withdrew his lawsuit  against Putrajaya for an alleged breach of agreement over land in Bukit Raja, Selangor on the same day Boustead reported it bought an 80 per cent stake in Astacanggih for RM30 million.
Deepak has made various allegations about the deal that involved Raja Ropiaah, but has disappeared from public view since December 13.
But he resurfaced yesterday to explain the sale of his firm to Boustead.
“My shareholders and me have sold our shares in Asta Canggih for RM30 million which is our actual cost price. RM13 million (for) Raja Ropiah, RM8 million political contribution, RM7 million financial cost, RM2 million legal and miscellaneous cost, as this ultimatum was forced upon us,” Deepak said in a text message.
State news agency Bernama reported that in a filing with Bursa Malaysia, Boustead said its wholly-owned unit, Bakti Wira Development Sdn Bhd, acquired the shares from Prestige Dimension Sdn Bhd and other minority shareholders of Astacanggih on December 20.
Bakti Wira Development and Astacanggih also signed an agreement with Awan Megah to acquire 80.94ha of freehold land in Klang, Selangor, for RM130 million.

THERE IS NO ESCAPE: Najib, Gani must respond to the latest Altantuya allegations

THERE IS NO ESCAPE: Najib, Gani must respond to the latest Altantuya allegations
Malaysia will forever remain in a dark cloud over the killing of Mongolian Altantuya Shaariibuu because of the failure on part of our criminal justice system to secure complete justice for her.
We have failed until now to explain why Altantuya was killed and more importantly who directed her killing.
The recent claims by Deepak Jaikishan surrounding the making of a statutory declaration has added more fuel into a fire which just cannot seem to be put out.
The Attorney General Tan Sri Gani Patail, should respond to the allegations made by Deepak that "justice has not yet been done "in the case involving Altantuya
WHO ORDERED THE KILLING?
Deepak was earlier reported as saying:
"Whoever actually killed her, who actually instructed her killing, should be responsible. They must take the responsibility."
This question has been asked again and again. The AG should tell us, who ordered the killing and why? This is the most important aspect of the case which has not been answered until now.
This angle ought to have been probed further during the trial of those who were charged with her murder. It is basic in all cases like this that motive is established. The prosecution owe the family of the deceased and the general public a duty here.
DEAFENING SILENCE
It is also surprising to note the Prime Ministers silence in this matter.
The Prime Minister has in past cases involving suspicious deaths, recognized the need for full 'no stone unturned' inquiries so as to get to the truth and so as to find justice and closure for the deceased and the families of the deceased.
Why is it different with Altantuya? Why are we not pressing for answers to these most important aspects of the case? Isn't the Prime Minister as head of the government interested to know what actually happened more so given the manner in which the murder was executed?
JUSTICE MUST BE DONE
It is said that "Justice must not only be done, it must be seen to be done".
I challenge the Prime Minister to direct a full inquiry into these aspects of this case. We must get to the truth. The truth must prevail.
With the election looming, the Prime Minister cannot afford to have this problem hoovering over his head. If he feels there is no need for further inquiry, and that the earlier investigations have answered all questions, then he should tell us, what does the investigation reveal?
Who ordered the killing of Altantuya and why?

‘Goalkeeper Rosmah will cause BN downfall’

Teoh El Sen
 | December 1, 2012
The controversial carpet trader Deepak Jaikishan has made a startling prediction about the outcome of the 13th general election.
KUALA LUMPUR: Controversial carpet trader Deepak Jaikishan today made a startling prediction: Barisan Nasional will suffer a big loss in the upcoming general election, all because of a goalkeeper called “Rosmah”.
In a cryptic SMS sent to the media, the well-connected businessman used a football metaphor and named “Rosmah” as the sole Umno goalkeeper who would fail to stop Pakatan Rakyat from scoring big.
Deepak said he was referring to the speech given by Umno Kelantan delegate Md Alwi Che Ahmad who drew the analogy of Umno being like the “red warriors”, the committed and hardworking football players of the state.
The Kelantan opposition leader was quoted as saying that “Umno players” are winnable candidates and are able to score goals.
“The party’s president want the best players to score goals… winnable candidates” he reportedly said.
Deepak, however, laughed off the suggestion, saying that he found it amusing as the Kelantan players actually belong to PAS.
“I refer to the Umno Kelantan speech & his anology of kelantan’s champion footballer’s ‘red warriors’ as d criteria for ‘winnable candidates’,” he wrote.
“Najib is indeed an excellant striker & a winnable candidate in Pekan but unfortunately Umno’s only goalkeeper today is Rosmah & she has her hands full catching the billions coming her way that she won’t have the time to stop PKR from scoring goals in parlimentary seats.”
The man, who has previously admitted to being close like a sibling to Rosmah Mansor, the wife of Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak, then made a startling prediction in his text.
“GE13 will be PKR 123, seat Rosmah RM26 BILLION, BN 99 seats. A prophecy that will happen.”
‘Goalkeeper not interested in catching balls’
Asked about the meaning behind his SMS, Deepak said: “You have a winnable candidate who can win his seat, but this is not the presidential election. If he wins and the others lose, there is no point.
“I fully agree that we should have winnable candidates. I’m saying that, yes, Najib can win in Pekan, but you have so many players and you only have one goalkeeper; this goalkeeper is not interested in catching the ball, but in catching billions,” he told FMT.
“You can win that one Pekan seat. But you are going to lose 120 other seats because your goalkeeper is not trying to catch the ball the opposition is trying to score.”
The past week, Deepak has resurfaced after some period of silence, giving several media interviews in which he claimed he regretted getting private investigator P Balasubramaniam to retract his first statutory declaration (SD) concerning murdered Mongolian national Altantuya Shaariibuu.
Balasubramaniam’s first SD had linked Najib to the murder, while the second one reversed it a day later. Balasubramaniam subsequently went missing.
In the interviews, Deepak said that he got involved as a favour to a “female friend”.
Deepak also spoke about a land dispute case, involving him, a Selangor Umno leader and the Defence Ministry, which Najib had then helmed.
Deepak has accused Najib of receiving “contributions” from him for the former’s intervention in the land deal but is upset that the premier now refuses to aid him in resolving the dispute.
He also talked about a fall-out with Najib’s family after his involvement in the Altantuya matter.
Subsequently, Deepak has also claimed to have been forced out of 26 companies that he was a director in. He said that he was also harassed by government agencies and had several government-linked contracts cancelled.
